MENORCAN BEACHES
The island of Minorca has some 216 kilometres of coastline. Many of the coastal spots can be reached overland, but in other cases access by sea is recommended. Due to their excellence Minorca’s beaches are virgin, allowing beachgoers to enjoy nature of an unspoiled variety, but there are also other beaches which offer all types of amenities.
For convenience, the beaches nearest residential developments are commended, as they are easily accessible and have parking areas, bars and restaurants, and it is possible to hire sunbeds, sun umbrellas, pedalos or equipment for games and water sports, such as windsurfing.
To give an example, we list some of the beaches in Minorca: Son Bou, Cala’n Porter, s’Algar, Alcalfar, Punta Prima, Binibèquer, Sant Tomàs, Cala Galdana, Cala Blanca, Santadria, etc.
With regard to virgin beaches, Macarella and Macarelleta are outstanding for the beauty of their crystalline waters, although also worthy of mention are Es Talaier, Son Saura and Cala en Turqueta. All these beaches are to be found to the south of Ciutadella and are reached by taking the rural road of Sant Joan de Missa.
